Nickel City Opera Artistic Director, Founder and Cheektowaga native Valerian Ruminski believes arts organizations are vital to the growth of Western New York and the surrounding communities. Mr. Ruminski has risen from humble beginnings to sing at prestigious opera houses around the world including The Metropolitan Opera, Miami Opera, Opera de Monte Carlo, Opera de Montreal, Dallas Opera, Seattle Opera, Hawaii Opera Theatre and Opera Ireland. He was nurtured by the WNY community during the early stages of his career and now wants to give back what he was given by bringing the art form he loves to his home town.
After a successful 2009 production of Rossini’s ‘Barber of Seville’ at The Riviera Theatre, we have secured the theatre for our 2010 season and will be staging Verdi’s ‘Rigoletto’ in addition to other concerts and events.
